How it works

You will become a member of the Five Pound Football Club by entering your details, agreeing to the Terms and Conditions and submitting a payment of five pounds. This is the democratic community that will hold a stake in the chosen club. There will be a democratically elected board and president, with elections held every two years.

Trustees will be elected to the board to champion the areas for investment: playing budget contributions, facilities improvement and community development. The association president and trustees will play a vital role in ensuring that the views and opinions of the association members are presented and considered.

Membership and the investment fund

We want to keep our community as accessible as possible. There is a minimum commitment of five pounds per season to remain a member although you are under no obligation to re-new. All of the investment fund contributions are pooled together to form the investment fund. Ten per cent (fifty pence) of each investment fee is an administration fee which is used to manage, maintain and develop fivepoundfootballclub.com. Members decide how to distribute the investment fund. Any profits made by the club or surplus investment fund contributions will be re-invested in the club.

There will be the option to invest more than five pounds per season. Additional payments will be rewarded with authority points. However, there will be a cap on the amount of authority points that can be bought per member each season. Some votes will be one member, one vote basis and other votes will be based on 'authority points'. Although we might be trying to raise additional funds, members are under no obligation to make an extra contribution.

Investment in the club

It's vital that there would be no substantial debt and the football club must be able to 'balance its books'. For instance, the playing budget will be set as a sensible proportion of the club's turnover. We will respect the history and tradition of the football club, as well as the views and opinions of the club's fans.

The club would be run within its means and our community can vote to provide additional investment. The club would be run sustainably without the need for additional investment. Members can discuss and vote on how to distribute the investment fund, which could be used to provide luxury items - a key player, improved facilities or a community program to produce stars of the future.
