Who will own the club?

For an investment of just five pounds, you will become a football club owner. Some of the biggest clubs in the world, including Barcelona (the socio model) and Hamburg (the 50+1 model), are owned by thousands of members. The shares purchased in Monmouth Town will be owned by our community, of which you would be a member.

So, the Five Pound Football Club now owns Monmouth Town?

Monmouth Town are re-structuring as a Community Interest Company, which ensures transparency and protects the club's assets. The Five Pound Football Club community is delighted to have a five-year investment agreement with Monmouth Town to acquire 51% of the shares in the newly-formed Community Interest Company.

Why Monmouth Town?

Our Five Pound Football Club community was established in May 2010 with the intention of helping to develop a successful, sustainable club in one of the smaller national leagues, where our investment could make difference. After six months of research we narrowed out search down to just under 600 Welsh clubs and, eventually, a shortlist of ten interested clubs. In August 2011 members voted to invest in Monmouth Town.

What could the money be invested in?

Members will vote to decide how the funds that they raise should be distributed. Should we establish a playing budget, improve facilities or try and develop more links with the community? Monmouth Town Football Club will be run sustainably and our community will provide additional investment.

Can I invest more than five pounds?

We want our community to be accessible to everyone but not restrict how much people can invest. There is a minimum commitment of five pounds per season, although you are under no obligation to re-new, and there is the option to make additional contributions. Members will receive authority points for each investment contribution. A higher authority rating could be useful when campaigning on how to distribute the funds that are raised.

Can members still join?

Of course it's possible to join the community now to become a part-owner of Monmouth Town Football Club. Looking to the future, we hope to continue to expand to help the club progress. Monmouth Town Football Club is owned by the community that it serves - both the local and online community.

Do you have to live in the UK?

Certainly not. The Five Pound Football Club community is a global network of football club owners. All the information that you will need will be provided on fivepoundfootballclub.com. As long as you've got access to the website you'll be fine.
